On Thursday, April 25, 2019, the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter hosted 25 Years of Turning Points at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. This signature fundraising gala commemorated the 25 year milestone and honoured the event founders. It also celebrated the courageous individuals and families in our community striving to live free from family violence and abuse as well as commemorate the important work of the agency. Emcee Dave Kelly, community leaders, and more than 550 distinguished guests joined together to Take A Stand, and help raise awareness and change the conversation around family violence and abuse.
The event raised a record-breaking
In November 2019, during Family Violence Prevention Month, Angela Knight from CBC Calgary’s The Eyeopener hosted our annual Tulip Awards, honouring community leaders taking a stand against family violence and abuse.
The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter would not be able to provide our services in the community without the support of our generous donors and volunteers. The Tulip Awards celebrate significant contributions that make a difference in the lives of families taking courageous steps to end family violence and abuse.
It is with enormous pride and respect that we recognize and honour the individuals and organizations taking significant action towards making lives safer and healthier for the women, children, youth and men we serve. Congratulations to all our award recipients.
